FOUNDATIONS | regional equipping events

These regional evening events are a mix of teaching, discussing and resourcing for ministry in this season of church life. Join with others in your region, to be equipped to build ministry with children, young people and families in your congregation. Foundations offer an opportunity to:

  • come together with other volunteer leaders and helpers in children’s, youth and family ministry together for equipping, encouraging, sharing and resourcing for ministry.
  • join for an evening in which you can take a step back from the busyness of running ministry among children and young people in your congregation.
  • enjoy space and time to listen and learn together with others about effectively engaging children and young people in small groups and how we can help them to make sense of what the Bible says in the real-life settings and situations of their lives.
  • come together as group from your congregation or on your own.

Foundations 2025

Monday 13 October | 7.45-9.15pm | Ballydown Presbyterian
Thursday 23 October | 7.45-9.15pm | Drumreagh Presbyterian

Firm foundations to build upon for anyone involved in ministry among children, young people and their families.

Do you crave some space and time to think about your children’s and youth ministry away from the ongoing focus on delivering the programme? Would you like to learn from and connect with other leaders and volunteers to share ideas and ask burning questions about the ministry you are involved in? Foundations may be just the thing for you.

Come and join with other volunteer leaders and helpers in children’s, youth and family ministry for an encouraging evening of equipping, sharing and resourcing for ministry.

Come together as group from your congregation or on your own.

Participants can choose to attend 2 from the 4 sessions below.

Children’s ministry

1.  Helping children find their voice in prayer
What can we learn from Bible about children and prayer? What ideas and resources can help us give children confidence to pray for themselves and develop a lifelong conversation with their heavenly Father?

2.  Beyond children’s ministry to connecting with the whole family
Children around our church come from families of all shapes and sizes. How can we better connect with and support parents and grandparents within the family of our church? In what ways might we build relationships with families who don’t belong to our congregation but whose children are involved in our organisations and activities?

Youth ministry

1.   Connecting young people with the Bible for a life of faith
Helping young people come to see and appreciate how following what God says in the Bible offers life in all its fullness is at the heart of youth ministry, particularly in a world which encourages them in the opposite direction. Explore some ways we can enable young people to engage with Scripture to develop and sustain a life of faith and discover a variety of resources that can help us do so.

2.  Embracing young people within your whole church community
Involvement in the wider all-age community of God’s people is essential for young people’s faith to grow to maturity. Yet, across the whole church it is increasingly difficult to keep young people engaged in core activities of congregational life. This session will explore simple ways to embrace young people into the worship, life and witness of your congregation.
